Our weird weekend opens with a rare 3D screening of Bi Gan’s Long Day’s Journey into Night, a neo-noir mystery dealing with the slippery nature of memory. Gan’s film is a dreamscape of fractured time that leaps in and out of reality.

Luo Hongwu (Jue Huang) returns to his hometown, haunted by his past and desperately searching for his lost love Wan Qiwen (Tang Wei). Along his journey Luo falls asleep in a cinema, allowing the audience to connect with his memory and enter his dream reality with an audacious and spellbinding hour-long unbroken take, shot entirely in 3D.

Part of Film Feels Curious: Double Take, a weird weekend of films about dreams and doubles - Friday 22 - Sunday 24 July 2022.

Tickets for Double Take are 4-for-3 (only available at the box office).

This screening is part of Film Feels Curious, a UK-wide cinema season, supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. Explore all films and events at filmfeels.co.uk
