Reese Witherspoon is on absolute top form as the wildly overachieving student politician Tracey Flick in Alexander Payne’s breakout film, Election. Matthew Broderick stars as Jim McAllister, the sad-sack teacher irritated by Tracey’s unwavering energy and enthusiasm. In an attempt to cut her down to size, Jim’s entire life begins to unravel when he becomes embroiled in the school’s election, where Tracey is running unopposed for the role of student-body president.

Screening as part of 1999 - a season of our favourite films celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.
