After his girlfriend’s body is discovered in a lake, IWAMORI Jun wants revenge, and so when he wakes up on the sixth of June, he goes straight to the murderer’s workplace and poisons his coffee, dumping the body in a nearby lake. Satisfied, Jun retires to bed, but when he wakes up the next morning, it is still the sixth of June. Puzzled, Jun heads back to the factory, only to rediscover the killer, alive and well. This time, he opts to stab him to death.
With startling new twists that completely subvert the timeworn time-loop genre, Penalty Loop is inventive and enthralling, combining bereavement drama, brutal revenge, and off-kilter comedy. The result is bloody, irreverently funny, and deeply poignant.
