“In our talk about our experiences in hip hop, we explore the powerful influence of Beat Street, a film that captures the essence of the culture during its formative years in the 1980s. This film, with its authentic portrayal of breakdancing, graffiti, DJing, and rapping, provided not just entertainment but a guiding light for many of us. It showed the struggles and triumphs of urban youth, resonating deeply with our own journeys. Beat Street taught us about the artistry and community at the heart of hip hop, inspiring us to embrace our creativity and persevere through challenges, much like the characters in the film.” – Courtney Rose
