For a decade, cyclist Alex Dowsett was driven by the dream of being the fastest man on two wheels: in 2015, he broke the World Hour Record. Having lost it to Bradley Wiggins, six years later, he tried again…
Alex looks back on his 13 years as a professional cyclist in this special evening at Broadway - a career in which he was a part of the Team Sky project, had major success at the sport’s biggest races and raced with and against cycling’s biggest names, from Wiggins, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish to Lance Armstrong. As well as showing us the golden age of British cycling from the inside, Alex will be sharing the challenges he has faced as the only top sportsperson in the world with haemophilia A, a condition which both blighted his young sporting life, and boosted his determination to succeed. Alex is celebrating the recent paperback launch of his autobiography, Bloody Minded. He will be in conversation with Michael Hutchinson - himself a 56-times British champion, Cycling Weekly columnist, acclaimed author and expert in the science of speed.
