Screening as part of our David Lynch season

David Lynch’s sweetest film is based on the true story of retiree Alvin Straight. On learning the news that his distant brother Lyle has suffered a stroke, Alvin decides it’s time to visit and make things right between them while he still can. The only setback is Alvin is stuck in Iowa with no car, no driver’s licence, but his self-sufficiency still leads him on a 240-mile road trip to Wisconsin – on his lawnmower - thus beginning a picturesque and at times deeply spiritual odyssey.
