Undisputed king of body horror David Cronenberg directs then-real life couple Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis in an adaptation of George Langelaan’s sci-fi horror short story which asks the question: what happens if you cross a man with a fly? The answer according to Cronenberg is a skin-crawlingly gross prosthetic transformation which not only won the film an Academy Award for best make-up but also earned the film a spot in the sci-fi hall of fame.
