William Shakespeare is, arguably, the most famous playwright who ever lived. Not only do his plays continue to be staged over 400 years after his death, but he has also dominated the world of cinema, a medium far beyond what was dreamt of in his philosophy. Tutor Kenton Hall will examine the history of Shakespeare on screen, why we still find new things to say about his plays, the ways in which he invented many of the tropes of film storytelling - from the historical epic to the romantic comedy - and how the mystery of his life continues to fascinate.
