In 1971, a group of leading African American soul, jazz, and gospel artists embarked on a journey that would change the lives of everyone involved. Artists such as Ike & Tina Turner, Wilson Pickett, Santana and the Staple Singers travelled from New York City to Accra, Ghana to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime concert.

The concert was a celebration of 14 years of Ghana’s independence from British rule. For most of the artists, it would be their first trip to Africa - a journey exploring personal roots, ancestral homeland, history, discovery, loss, pain and joy.

As well as following the musicians as they travel through Ghana, Soul to Soul is first and foremost an electrifying concert film. The assembled players are at the peak of their powers as they perform to a 100,000 strong crowd celebrating the meeting of cultures and continents.

Newly restored 55 years after its original, limited release, Soul to Soul makes a triumphant return to the big screen looking and sounding as good as ever.
