In May, we present two defining works of the Australian New Wave - Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) and Ted Kotcheff's Wake in Fright (1971).
One dreamlike and mysterious, the other stark, sun-bleached and savage, both helped reshape a national cinema by exploring the strangeness and hypnotic power of the Australian landscape.
Our season also includes Peter Weir's first American film - his 1985 crime thriller Witness - starring Harrison Ford, which received eight Oscar nominations including Best Director.
