Since October 2023, Gaza has been sealed from the world. While global media are barred from reporting, doctors are the only outsiders getting in. Life Support is built around their first-hand accounts and visceral footage from inside overwhelmed hospitals, covering the entire two years of the conflict. The result is an unflinching record of a society being dismantled, and an urgent call to attend to its human consequences.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film's director Daniele Rugo; Dr. Emad Msallam, a Palestinian doctor from Gaza, currently working in the NHS in the UK; and Dr Magdi Albarade, a Palestinian anaesthetist and Trustee of PalMed UK, now living in the UK.
The Q&A will be chaired by Nottingham Palestine Film Festival's Valentina Ananìa.
Guest bios
Daniele Rugo is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. His previous directorial work The Soil and The Sea (2023)—featuring prose by celebrated writer Elias Khoury—uncovered Lebanon’s buried history, as the first cinematic record of mass graves from the country’s Civil War.
Dr. Emad Msallam is a Palestinian doctor from Gaza, currently working in the NHS in the UK. After graduating from Ain Shams University in Egypt, he worked in Gaza, providing frontline medical care under extremely challenging conditions before continuing his medical career in the UK. His experience offers a personal perspective on the realities faced by healthcare workers and patients during the ongoing conflict.
Dr Magdi Albarade is a Palestinian anaesthetist, born and raised in Hebron, where he lived for 25 years before working in Jerusalem for six years. He has been living in the UK since 2019 and last visited Palestine in August 2025. Dr Albarade serves as a Trustee of PalMed UK, the Palestinian Medical Association in the United Kingdom. Through this role, he supports initiatives focused on strengthening healthcare delivery and advancing medical education in Palestine and in Palestinian refugee camps.
