Curated by the Media Archive for Central England, the film archive for the Midlands, COMING HOME foregrounds an important era in the history of Nottingham's screen culture through the work of the Nottingham Video Project group, one of the four founding members of Broadway Cinema. Rewinding to Nottingham in the 1980s and the era of video, newly digitised works from the collection tell stories of activism and art from the miners' strike to the anti-nuclear campaign, the role of women and the changing face of the city.
Part of a project to highlight the urgent need to preserve videotape, a now obsolete medium, MACE's archivists will contextualise and introduce this collection of short films. MACE will also be hosting a Screen Heritage Roadshow and will be on hand to assess your own film and video collections. So, if you've got some old video (or even film) it's time to get in the loft to dig it out!
