The Hero - A Cinematic Evolution

All of the ancient civilisations had their heroes; great warriors who defeated mighty enemies, superpowered deities who could protect - or destroy - them, simple townsfolk who rose to triumph against all the odds. And cinema has carried on that storytelling tradition. From Odysseus to John McClane. Achilles to Captain America. Hippolyta to Furiosa.

Join us as we study the evolution of our cinematic heroes; from their historic roots to their big screen arrivals. Has cinema replaced those ancient firesides as a venue for heroic storytelling? And for audiences today, what does a hero really look like?
