From 2001: A Space Odyssey to The Neverending Story, world-renowned visual effects artist Colin Arthur is responsible for some of the most magical creations ever committed to screen – all without the need for computers. Join us for a screening of the classic Alien (1979) and a pre-screening talk where Colin will discuss how he has turned what exists in the vivid imaginations of filmmakers into practical, physical reality across his nearly six decades in the industry.
Colin’s talk (with a chance for audience questions) will start at 7pm, followed by Alien (1979) at 7.45pm, a film which features one of his spectacular creations – the head of the evil android, Ash.
