No More Hiroshimas
Part of a series of events by Nottingham CND to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Tuesday 5th to Sunday 10th August 2025 at Broadway Gallery
Nottingham CND is hosting an exhibition at Broadway Gallery to:
- Explain what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945
- Tell the truth about nuclear weapons
- Show a history of Nottingham’s anti-nuclear protest
Through a selection of archive, leaflets, posters, photographs and films the story will be told.
There will be interactive opportunities to make a badge, make an origami crane and put a message on a cherry tree. See the Hibaku seeds from a Ginko Biloba tree that survived the blast and will be nurtured at Woodthorpe Plant Nursery until it’s ready to be planted. This is a Mayors for Peace initiative instigated by Nottingham City Councillor Nayab Patel (Sherwood Ward).
Content warning
A small number of pictures of the effects of the nuclear bombs will be on display – please be warned they might be upsetting for children and adults.
