Pulp guitarist Mark Webber shares stories from 40 years of one of Britain’s best-loved bands.
Both Mark and Pulp have unique stories within pop: Pulp, the eccentric Sheffield band that took 13 years to achieve national recognition; Mark, the teenage fan who ended up in the band for their biggest mid-90s successes.
Mark will be reflecting on his head-spinning journey from being a fan of a small local band to being on stage with them this year at festivals in Bilbao, Korea and Glastonbury. Mark, the band’s historian as well as their guitarist, will show stills and videos from the archive as he discusses Pulp’s journey through 80s indie culture into the spotlight of the Britpop era and onto this year’s triumphant comeback, with their No 1 album and sell-out arena tour.
Mark will be signing copies of his book, ‘I’m with Pulp, Are You?’ after the event. There will be a chance to ask your own questions.
He will be in conversation with journalist Duncan Steer, previously host of music talk nights with Baxter Dury, Nick Lowe, Don Letts and Pulp drummer Nick Banks.
