In Jean Vigo’s timeless masterpiece, a pair of young newlyweds - barge captain Jean and country girl Juliette - set sail for married life aboard Jean’s boat, travelling the waterways of France alongside a small, eccentric crew and an abundance of cats. Both a surprisingly erotic idyll and a clear-eyed meditation on love, Vigo’s only feature-length work before his death at just 29 is an all-time cinema classic.
