We've been telling science fiction stories since at least the second century A.D. when Lucian of Samosata gave us A True Story, a mythically-tinged tale of outer space travel and interplanetary warfare. In the years since, we've continued to go boldly into worlds inner and outer, speculating on and, at times, foretelling what lies ahead for the ever striving human race. Literature has certainly played its part in the popularity of sci-fi, as has film, but in this 10-week course, we'll be looking at the weird and wonderful worlds conjured for television, a medium that has often allowed for more detailed long-form explorations of everything from star-based shoot-'em-ups to philosophical allegory. Whether you're a fan of decade-spanning franchises like Star Trek and Doctor Who or, perhaps, a faithful Browncoat, Dwarfer or Gatehead, we've got something for you. Vworp! Vworp!
