From award-winning director Steve McQueen comes this mesmerising and monumental excavation of how the past haunts our precarious present. McQueen’s searching camera sweeps through a vibrant contemporary Amsterdam while, at the same time, the film summons people and memories of the past under Nazi occupation within the city’s map and woven into the fabric of its streets and buildings.

Informed by the book Atlas of an Occupied City: Amsterdam 1940-1945 by Bianca Stigter.

With pre-recorded post-screening discussion with Steve McQueen and Bianca Stigter.

Total event duration: 300 min (inc. one 15 min interval midway through the film + 30 min post-screening discussion)

Please note, this screening will begin promptly at 3pm.
