It’s the summer of 1984 and Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decide to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. And so begins the extraordinary story of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership.
This special screening marks not only 10 years since the original release of the film but also the 40th anniversary of the start of the miners' strike, and the formation of Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM).
Sponsored by the East Midlands LGBT+ Organising Forum of the NEU, along with Notts UNISON.
