Short Stack is back this August! Join us to discover local new and emerging filmmakers at our regular short film showcase.

This month, the line-up will include:

A short documentary about Nottingham’s only LGBTQ+ pub, made by local filmmaker Damien Ebanks.
Debbie Law is the landlady of the oldest gay pub in Nottingham, The New Foresters. The pub opened in 1938 and is the centrepiece of Nottingham’s queer community, surviving longer than any other LGBTQ+ bar in the city. The documentary explores the story of how Debbie came to be the owner of the pub, what it is like to run an LGBTQ+ pub in 2022, and why safe spaces are still so important for the community.

Made by Scottish-based duo Big Red Button and featuring two of the UK’s best on-screen talent, Peter Mullan and Joanna Scanlan.

All Don wants is a quiet life in the Scottish Highlands. Unfortunately, the universe has other plans.

Please note, this screening has a recommended age rating of 15+.

Join us in the Mezz Bar for a complimentary drink after the screening and meet the programmers. Please bring ID.

Broadway is proud to present this month’s, Short Stack in partnership with BFI Film Academy, as a BFI Scene event. This activity is part of the UK-wide BFI Film Academy programme and is supported using funds from the National Lottery.
