Learn experimental sound design with Aja Ireland, using music performance and production software Ableton. In this workshop you will create sample packs from household objects, get a break-down of Ableton plugins, and pick up sound design techniques.
Part of Sonic Sculptures, a series of events situated around a structure turning Broadway Gallery into an instrument.
In this workshop by award-winning musician and artist AJA Ireland, participants will learn how to make drone and textures from found sounds and field recordings for experimental sound design.
The session will cover how to create a wide range of different sounds and textures using simple built-in Ableton Plugins. These can be used to create sample packs, build structured songs and create ambient/drone/noise textures.
AJA will use improvisational techniques to demonstrate an experimental workflow in real-time, allowing participants to see a true representation of creating sounds from scratch.
This workshop aims to motivate and empower you to use these techniques independently no matter what level of experience you have, from beginner to advanced.
About the Artist
Using unsettling noise, field recording manipulations and hardware, Aja Ireland’s industrial beats and distorted drone, combined with intense performances, challenge the audience by breaking down barriers and pushing limits sonically.
