From 1950s Beach Movies to more serious outpourings such as REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, the teen or troubled adolescent has long since played a key role in modern cinematic offerings. Whether within the context of coming of age productions like THE BREAKFAST CLUB or STAND BY ME or presented within the confines of other genres like comedy, thriller or horror, young adults and their narratives have proved to be controversial and highly popular box office fodder. With plenty of film clips and discussion, including studies of movies like HEATHERS, SUPER DARK TIMES, GHOST WORLD, LADYBIRD, JUNO and VIRGIN SUICIDES, everyone will relate to this honest examination of that joyously painful, pimple-faced period in our lives where you can be earnest, awkward, beautiful and ridiculous all at the same time. “When you grow up your heart dies”
