In May, we present two defining works of the Australian New Wave - Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) and Ted Kotcheff's Wake in Fright (1971).
In radically different tones - one dreamlike and mysterious, the other stark, sun-bleached and brutal - both helped reshape a national cinema by exploring the strangeness and hypnotic power of the Australian landscape.
