Update 13/2/2024: Due to unforeseen circumstances, this screening will no longer be hosted by Fortune & Glory this evening - we'll still be showing the film as scheduled, however the post-film event will no longer be taking place. We apologise for any disappointment caused.
This screening is hosted by Fortune & Glory Film Club.
Acclaimed director Jeanie Finlay charts the rise of Aubrey Gordon. Shot over six years, we see Aubrey go from anonymous blogger YrFatFriend to NYTimes bestseller and beloved podcaster with an audience of millions.
Fortune & Glory Film Club hosts a Galentine’s Day celebration, creating a friendly, welcoming space to consider where our fatness and queerness intersect.
We will watch the film, and, inspired by Aubrey’s piece “A love letter from your fat friend: It’s okay. You’re fat.”, you are invited to write and share your “love letters to queer fat bodies” on our open mic. This supportive space is designed to uplift and celebrate the unique voices and stories of queer fat individuals. Participation is entirely optional.
This screening will be presented with captions.
Fortune & Glory Film Club is a queer run, immersive film experience. We focus on creating accessible, welcoming, queer spaces to have good times!
"Another joyously insightful, subversive and ultimately uplifting documentary from the great Jeanie Finlay"
