About us
About Broadway
Broadway is Nottingham's independent cinema: a four-screen cinema, Café Bar and creative hub on Broad Street in Hockley, at the heart of the city's Creative Quarter. We are a registered charity (no. 700880), and every ticket, pizza and pint helps fund our mission to inspire creativity and a lifelong love of film.
What we screen
We programme the best of cinema in all its forms: new releases, independent British film, world cinema, documentaries, classic retrospectives and event cinema, alongside Q&As, seasons and festivals you will not find anywhere else. Every October we host Mayhem Film Festival, the region's only weekend-long celebration of horror, sci-fi and cult film. In 2009, Total Film named Broadway one of the best cinemas in the world.
Our screens
All four of our screens were rebuilt around comfort. Screen 1 seats 248, with seats made wider and more generous in our 2019 refurbishment, which also brought 7.1 surround sound, new hearing loops and 4K projection to Screens 1 and 2. Screen 4 is the world's only cinema screen designed by Sir Paul Smith, finished in the designer's signature Big Stripe.
A cinema for everyone
Everyone should be able to experience the delight that cinema brings. We deliver over 700 captioned screenings a year, audio description in every screen, regular Relaxed Screenings with adjusted lighting and sound, Parent & Baby screenings, and a Pay What You Feel Family Film Club with tickets from £2. Free tickets are available for essential companions, and our venue is audited annually by AccessAble.
