Wellington Films

Wellington Films have been based at Broadway since soon after their beginnings in 2000.

Started by producers Rachel Robey and Alastair Clark, Wellington's big break came in 2005 with LONDON TO BRIGHTON; produced on a micro budget, the film was a critical smash and was nominated at the London Critics Circle Film Awards for British Film Producers of the Year, earned a BAFTA nomination for the Best Debut category, and won Best Achievement in Production at the British Independent Film Awards.

Since then Tom Wood and Anna Griffin have joined the Wellington team as producers, working on numerous features – not only their own productions but freelance engagements such as Anton Corbijn’s CONTROL, Alexis Dos Santos’ UNMADE BEDS, and DEATH OF A GENTLEMAN by Sam Collins, Johnny Blank and Jarrod Kimber. Highlights have included the world premiere of Duane Hopkins’ BETTER THINGS at Cannes Film Festival, and the Best Film BAFTA Scotland Award for CRYING WITH LAUGHTER.

2017 saw the theatrical release of Hope Dickson Leach's debut feature, THE LEVELLING, backed by the BFI, BBC Films & Creative England, winning a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Writer alongside a nomination for Best Director.

Wellington's most recent release is the Netflix Original Film CALIBRE from Matt Palmer, starring Jack Lowden and Martin McCann, with backing from Creative Scotland, Creative England and Ingenious. It won the prestigious Michael Powell Award at Edinburgh International Film Festival, and was nominated for a record-equalling five BAFTA Scotland awards, including a clean sweep of the Best Actor category, and three British Independent Film Awards.

The success of these productions led to Wellington being named by Screen International as one of the Brit 50 - a prestigious list of the top independent feature production companies in the UK.
