Our friends The Nottingham Horror Collective are taking over Screen 1 for the launch of DEAD PRETTY: Beauty in the Horror Genre, their first full-length book of 25 illustrated essays, for anyone who has ever found something grotesque in beauty, or something beautiful in the grotesque.
Featuring a foreword by Jen and Sylvia Soska, the writer-directors behind American Mary, the book brings together writers from a diverse range of backgrounds to explore beauty in horror through films spanning decades and subgenres.
To celebrate the launch, TNHC will be hosting a screening of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, a balletcore psychological body horror about the slow unravelling of a woman obsessed with perfection.
Stick around after the film for a live panel discussion with the creators of DEAD PRETTY. There will also be a book signing, with copies available to buy on the night.
